The team worked on getting some fine tuning done to the racer yesterday (Monday).  We has a minor leak on the oil pan gasket, so we spent some time repairing that.  We also decided we wanted to try and squeeze out a little more steering, but unfortunately we stripped a thread on the ram assist.  Good news is that Bill will be flying in from Dallas today and was able to pick up a new part for us there.  I got the camera all working with Picture-in-a-Picture, so we should have good video from two different views this year.  I'll mount it all in the racer today and see how it looks.  We will pick up our GPS tracking device from IRC today and get it mounted.  Will pick up course GPS files tomorrow, and attend the BFGoodrich Pit meeting.  BFG is kind enough to sponsor us by providing free pit services/re-fueling along the course.  This is their 3rd year to sponsor us, and we really appreciate it! I was the first to experience "Montezuma's revenge" this year, but it seems to have been short lived.  Good to get it over with early!

3 days and a wake up!

Bye from Baja!   Scott

Arrived in San Diego

Well, we arrived last night to find the boys with two more tattoos!  I won't mention "who", but they got TWO fairly large tats...

We made a quick Walmart run, then headed over to grab some dinner. We are heading to Ensenada in a couple of hours to officially start the adventure!

Just spoke with the boys, and the racer just passed the SCORE tech inspection.  We didn't have any reason to believe it wouldn't, but it's always nice to get another box checked!  Off to San Diego tomorrow to meet the team and head to Mexico!!

P.S. -- received the attached photo at 2:30 a.m. this morning from an un-named member of the team in San Diego..looks like they spent some time in a tattoo shop!

Racer makes it to San Diego

I just spoke to Jerry, Matt C. and Chuck, and they made it to San Diego ok.  They met with the suspension guy, and he has the new shocks all dial-ed in.  Sounds like the racer is handling better than ever.  I think this is our year.  John, both Tim's and myself will join them Saturday and we'll cross the border Sunday a.m.  The rest of the team joins us Tuesday.  I've attached a couple of pics from the suspension testing session.

Baja Lodging

Well, we have confirmed our house from the '06 race again!  For those of you who weren't there or don't remember -- it is gated, has a great covered parking spot for the racer, is right next to the marina and is on the beach. It is only about 2 minutes from downtown Ensenada!  A great location, but the owner didn't really appreciate having a "race team" staying at her house.  Looks like a bad economy changed her attitude, and she's happy to take our money this year.  This will be home to 6 of us and the racer.  I think Phillip will be handling the remainder of the logistics, but will confirm with him.  Here's a link to the house if you don't remember.  http://www.vacationrentals.com/vacation-rentals/10929.html

Due to technical difficulties (a strange noise in our engine), we opted out of this race.
